DCPS uses the Peoplesoft Human Resource Management System so its workers will be best able to teach the students. DCPS’ Peoplesoft system is able to combine with other public school management systems. Often times, the human resources department is joined with I.T. This human resources system works well with DCPS. Its operations are consolidated together, for example the payroll and assessment procedures are all handled by Peoplesoft. When HR runs things on their own, they maintain only a worker's private history, abilities, skills, wages and accomplishments. In order to decrease the workload done by hand, DCPS started a specialized Human Resources Management System (HRMS) through DCPS Peoplesoft. Before, I.T. specialists were responsible for producing and maintaining important HRMS records. Currently, DCPS peoplesoft HRMS is responsible for certain things:
Time & attendance, Performance records, Payroll, The Human Resource management information system, Recruiting management, Scheduling, Performance appraisal, Absence management, Benefits administration, and Employee self-service.
DCPS PeopleSoft makes the greatest use of its paycheck and work history divisions. In the payroll department, the payment method is direct deposit. This is possible when the department has all of the necessary work information concerning their wages and time worked. This department also handles income tax and other tax-related information. Hiring and the task of keeping track of time worked are both managed by the same department, making quick direct deposit possible, as well as the timely distribution of traditional paper paychecks.
Peoplesoft is able to keep the records it keeps because Peoplesoft HRMS is actually part of a series of computer software. This software is what really does a lot of the work.
